The Canadian has already won the coveted music prize nine times. She is also nominated this year – and will be on stage for the first time.

The Canadian singer Joni Mitchell is about to make her first appearance at the Grammys. The 80-year-old will be on stage at the gala on February 4th in Los Angeles and make a historic appearance, the organizers announced. According to information on the music awards website, Mitchell has been nominated for a Grammy 18 times and won 9 times. This year she is nominated for her album “Joni Mitchell at Newport”.

The Grammys are being presented for the 66th time. Around 13,000 members of the Recording Academy decide on the winners of the Golden Gramophones, which are among the most coveted music prizes in the world and are awarded in 94 categories. Singer-songwriter SZA has the most nominations and goes into the gala with nine chances of winning. Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Boygenius and Jon Batiste are also nominated. Billy Joel and Billie Eilish will also appear.
