The gendarmes followed him. An armed man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in Challans, in the north of the Vendée, after a chase of several hours over about twenty kilometers. The authorities’ concern began around noon when an individual threatening relatives was reported in possession of a gun in the town of La Barre-de-Monts. About fifty gendarmes are then mobilized to intercept it, reports West France.
But the suspect, in his thirties, manages to continue on his way through Saint-Gervais and Sallertaine. Spotted again around 5 p.m., he drove his vehicle towards a gendarmerie roadblock in a commercial area of Challans. Gunshots are heard. The man will finally be arrested and subdued in front of the E.Leclerc supermarket. No one was hurt. He was taken into custody.
