The two men survived the war in Ukraine, where they fought after the Russian attack in February 2022. They were wounded as soldiers in this war and came to Germany last year for treatment. And here, in the otherwise tranquil community of Murnau am Staffelsee, at the weekend they were 23 and 36 years old, the victims of a bloody act of violence – apparently stabbed by a Russian citizen who has probably been living in Germany since the early 1990s.
