Murderer who fled in Regensburg is caught – Bavaria

The convicted murderer, who fled the Regensburg courthouse last Thursday, has been arrested. This was announced by the police on Monday evening. The 40-year-old was arrested in France near the German border in the evening. The investigators would provide more information on Tuesday, police said.

The man was serving a life sentence for assaulting and strangling a lottery operator with his brother that year.

He had to answer to the Regensburg district court last week for another offense – resisting law enforcement officials in prison. During a break in the hearing shortly before the verdict was announced, he withdrew into a back room with his lawyer and climbed out of the window.
