Murderer who fled from Regensburg transferred to Bavaria – Bavaria

The murderer, who escaped from the Regensburg district court, is again in a Bavarian prison. The man was handed over by French colleagues at the Saarbrücken border crossing on Friday, a spokesman for the Regensburg public prosecutor said on Monday. He arrived in a Bavarian prison on the same day. The spokesman did not provide any information on the exact location, with reference to privacy protection.

The 40-year-old escaped from the Regensburg district court during a break in negotiations on January 5 and fled to France. On the fifth day of his escape, investigators caught him in his sister’s car. The public prosecutor’s offices in Nuremberg-Fürth and Regensburg then applied for his extradition.

The Algerian was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2013 for the murder of a kiosk owner in Nuremberg and was in prison in Straubing. He had been transferred to Würzburg for resisting law enforcement officials there and had to answer before the Regensburg District Court. In his absence, he has now been sentenced to another prison term because of the incident in the JVA. According to the authorities, the man’s escape is not punishable.
