Actress Angela Lansbury has died at the age of 96. This was announced by her family in a statement.

Angela Lansbury is dead. The Brit, who became famous for her leading role as Jessica Fletcher in the hit series “Murder Is Her Hobby”, died at the age of 96. The actress’ children said in a statement, “that their mother passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 1:30 a.m. local time at her home in Los Angeles just five days before her 97th birthday.”

Angela Lansbury, who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II as Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2014, had been in front of the camera for around 75 years. She was nominated three times for an Oscar, several times for the Emmy TV award, she won six Golden Globe trophies and five Tony Awards, which recognized her for her theatrical performances.

However, most people know Angela Lansbury for her performance in Murder Is Her Hobby. In her late 50s, the British-American actress took on the role of curious amateur detective Jessica Fletcher for the first time. The more than 260 episodes of the TV series were a family project: son Anthony Shaw often directed, husband Peter Shaw was on board as producer.
