Murder in Garmisch refugee home – man sentenced to life imprisonment – Bavaria

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his roommate in a refugee accommodation. According to the Munich II Regional Court, the man is said to have struck the 21-year-old on the skull at least four times with a hand axe. “If you hit someone violently with an ax, there is an intent to kill,” the court explained the verdict on Tuesday.

With an absolute will to destroy, the Jordanian hit the Ukrainian several times even though she was already lying on the ground. The judgment is not final.

The man met the woman in a refugee accommodation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. According to the verdict, the 21-year-old had rejected his advances several times before he fatally injured her in November 2022. Taking someone’s life because of this was particularly despicable, the jury found. The defendant negated the victim’s right to sexual self-determination.

According to the psychiatric report, the 29-year-old suffers from a diagnosed personality disorder. However, the presiding judge explained that this had no impact on his culpability during the crime. However, it worked in favor of the defendant, which is why the court dismissed the particularly serious guilt.
