Munich’s craftsmen in crisis: help is approaching – Munich

What tenants are for the SPD and cyclists for the Greens, craftsmen are for the CSU: core clientele that you have to take care of. The faction in the town hall has now launched no fewer than 14 motions to make life and survival easier for local bakers, heating engineers and other businesses. The CSU wants to make parking, loading and unloading easier, identify more commercial space for craftsmen and do more for the next generation.

In order to illustrate the concerns and needs of the trades, parliamentary group leader Manuel Pretzl had a woman and two men from different companies at the table. Baker Heinrich Traublinger, manager of 21 branches, acted as the host in his Giesinger branch, and he immediately came to one of the central problems. “The transport policy is a disaster.” There is no space for loading and unloading in front of its branches. It doesn’t matter where the drivers stop for a moment, on sidewalks, bike paths, the street, there are problems everywhere. But the grievance is also a social one: “The understanding of the crafts in the city has been lost.”

The CSU is now calling for the creation of more well-located tradesman parking lots and delivery zones and the ability to deliver buildings directly. The parking machines should have a so-called roll button, which allows ten or 15 minutes to stand for free. In addition, there are the major construction sites in traffic, which are denounced by the CSU. She wants to reduce the cost of craftsmen’s ID cards even further than the coalition recently did with its about-face: the Greens and SPD are halving the annual fee, which was only increased in 2021, from 720 to 360 euros in order to relieve the burden on companies. To this end, the CSU demands that craftsmen be permanently exempted from the diesel driving ban on and within the Mittlerer Ring.

Sophia Fronius from the family business of the same name for heating, gas and solar from Ismaning has already drawn conclusions. “We no longer accept new customers in Munich if they don’t provide a parking space.” Everyone present agreed that applications for no-parking zones in front of construction sites would often take eight weeks to process. Here, too, the CSU demands improvement and an upgrade of the mobile phone parking app to include free parking spaces for tradespeople and an emergency function for tradespeople if they have to provide immediate help.

Dating app for craft internships

Olaf Zimmermann, head of the Obermeier heating company, has come to talk about the problem of gentrification, which is also affecting craftsmen. His business had been ousted from Lehel, and a new apartment owner in the building wanted to be left alone. He has found a new place to live in a commercial yard at Ostbahnhof and is very happy about it. The CSU now thinks that the city should proceed much more quickly with the redesignation of commercial space and should also think more about craftsmen. That also applies if the city buys buildings in areas with a conservation statute, said parliamentary group leader Pretzl. In order to inspire trainees for the trade, his group not only wants to create more living space for them, but also start a campaign and introduce a kind of dating app for internships.
