Munich Zoo: Easter fun for Hellabrunner animals – Munich

Easter is not only a special time for many people, the meerkats, raccoons and arctic foxes at Hellabrunn Zoo also had some variety these days: a colorful Easter basket with colored eggs and other treats. The nests not only look pretty, but also offer the zoo animals an incentive to keep busy, as the zoo reports. Since the animals don’t have to look for their own food there, they are regularly given special activities such as toys or training sessions with the zookeepers to make everyday life exciting.

There is also great interest among meerkats. What’s in the baskets obviously varies slightly from animal to animal.

However, there is no special promotion for visitors at Easter this year. There hasn’t been a chocolate Easter egg hunt in Hellabrunn for a long time, even if the rumor persists. “Because the health of our animals would be endangered by packaging and residues in the animal facilities, we abolished this campaign many years ago,” explains zoo director Rasem Baban.

But a quiz rally or a competition, like those held at the zoo at Easter in previous years – with the exception of the Corona years – is not planned this year, says press spokeswoman Lisa Reininger when asked by SZ. The rush to the zoo is always very high at the unofficial start of the season at Easter, so they thought they would try it without a special Easter offer. However, based on the inquiries, it is now clear that the actions are apparently firmly anchored in the minds of many. So next year things could be different again.
