Munich: wristwatch ripped off the wrist in Schwabing for 140,000 euros – Munich

A robbery with only one piece of loot, but that was tough: a 46-year-old man from Munich had his wristwatch ripped off his wrist on Tuesday evening in Schwabing – a “Richard Mille” worth 140,000 euros. The man was walking with a companion on Haimhauserstrasse when the robber struck and fled in the direction of Münchner Freiheit.

However, the victim was able to catch up with him, and there was a scuffle in which the 46-year-old fell to the ground and was slightly injured. The perpetrator fled as a passenger on a scooter that was waiting at the Münchner Freiheit. The police immediately searched with more than ten strips and longer than an hour, but without success.

The act is reminiscent of a series of similar incidents over a year ago, all in and around Maximilianstrasse. The perpetrators had hit their victims with a scooter and snatched their watches. There was damage of around 250,000 euros before the gang, three Italians, was finally caught. At the trial in February 2023 at the district court, all three were sentenced to several years in prison.

The last act of the same pattern occurred in early May on Maffeistrasse. A man had his watch worth more than 10,000 euros snatched from him. The police are now investigating whether the crimes are related – and whether the three convicts have since been replaced by other gang members.
