The innkeepers of the large Oktoberfest tents have assured that they want to comply with all of the city’s specifications. In a press release, Peter Inselkammer, their spokesman, responded to a report by the Süddeutsche Zeitung from Wednesday. After it was first published by the blogger Wiesnkini, it stated with reference to the General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of various tents that they did not comply with the rules relating to the return of leftover tokens. For 2023, the stamps can be used up in the pubs of the innkeepers by December 31st. However, some hosts still had the old deadline – October 31 – in their terms and conditions.
Inselkammer announced that the city council only decided on the changes to the Oktoberfest ordinance in June. Therefore, some of the old terms and conditions were sent with the reservation confirmations or were online. “We will change the terms and conditions as soon as possible,” said Inselkammer.
In the case of Siegfried Able, landlord in the Marstall marquee, it was even quicker: If the terms and conditions were still online on Tuesday with the date of June 16, 2023 – a good week before the relevant city council meeting – he is now sending a new version with significantly changed ones Return policy, dated August 4th, as well as an email, apparently to a reservation customer, in which the “currently valid terms and conditions” are sent. This email is dated August 22nd.
Thomas Roiderer, landlord in the hacker tent, however, points out that his return practice was not comprehensively described in the SZ article: consumption by consumption in the Gasthaus zum Wildpark in Straßlach is actually only possible until October 31st . Afterwards, however, the stamps could be exchanged for cash, but only on presentation of the invoice and by the person to whom this invoice was issued. Roiderer justifies this regulation with legal requirements for tax evasion and money laundering.
