A woman got stuck in the snow in Munich’s Olympic Park with her electric wheelchair and was finally pulled home by the fire department. She crossed the park on Tuesday night because she couldn’t get home using public transport, the fire department said. On Willi-Gebhardt-Ufer, near the underpass under Rudolf-Harbig-Weg, she got stuck in deep snow.
The attempt to “rock yourself free” with the forward and reverse gears was unsuccessful. The woman eventually called 911 and asked for help. The emergency services pulled the heavy electric wheelchair from the park to the cleared Spiridon-Louis-Ring and escorted the woman to the Ackermannbogen. There, the wheelchair’s battery died after numerous maneuvering attempts. “Without further ado, the men attached ropes to the frame of the wheelchair and harnessed themselves to it like draft animals,” the fire department said in a statement. They took the woman to their nearby residential facility.
