It is a serious setback for the Munich Greens that Katrin Haben Schaden is withdrawing from politics. As the top candidate in the 2020 local election campaign, she played a key role in ensuring that her party was the strongest faction in the town hall for the first time. And in her short term as second mayor, the 46-year-old gave the Greens a profile and a face. It leaves a big gap in the external image – and a number of open construction sites internally.
