Munich: “Waiting for Platonow” in the Cuvilliéstheater – Munich

So this time it’s Anton Chekhov that Thom Luz is targeting. The in-house director at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel recently invented a surreal, feather-light Aristophanes evening, incorporating individual motifs from the ancient playwright. Now “Platonow”, the early work of the Russian writer, is his starting point to explore it. “Waiting for Platonow” is the name of the musical theater evening that premieres on Saturday in the Cuvilliéstheater and asks whether man is not just a tone in the symphony by the composer Nature. To do this, Luz brings ten performers onto the stage, whom he gives such ludicrous role names as “left ring finger” or “right little finger”.

Waiting for Platonov, premiere: Saturday, October 8th, 7.30 p.m., Cuvilliéstheater, Residenzstr. 1, telephone: 089/21 85 19 40
