Munich: Using toilets in subway stations now costs 60 cents – Munich

Dirt, stench, and damaged sinks and toilet bowls: for a long time, the public toilets in Munich’s subway stations were not exactly gems. The municipal utilities are therefore gradually modernizing the toilet facilities and are charging a fee of 60 cents in 23 facilities that have already been renovated from this Monday. Barrier-free toilets, however, remain free of charge.

The entrance fee to the public toilets contributes to financing the operating costs, but cannot fully cover them, the municipal utilities say. Paid use could also help reduce the massive damage caused by recent vandalism. Seven more toilets are expected to be reopened after their renovation by spring 2024.
