Munich: US furniture retailer moves into former “Abercrombie & Fitch” branch – Munich

Finally something is moving on Sendlinger Strasse: US furniture retailer RH is now moving in where Abercrombie & Fitch once sold its fashion to young people to great public acclaim. The company has already had its two letters installed above the entrance; they stand for “Restoration Hardware”. The home furnisher is scheduled to open a flagship store in Munich’s Hofstatt this year, reports Real estate newspaper with reference to the Hamburg investor Quantum. Last week, RH opened a shop for furniture, lighting and textiles on Königsallee in Düsseldorf. It is the first branch in Germany.

Abercrombie & Fitch closed its store in Munich in 2021. Although it was said at the time that a new tenant, RH, had been found for the premises, the doors remained closed to this day – for almost three years. The shopping center’s manager, Andrea Brandt, cited the coronavirus pandemic as one reason for the delay, which made travel between the USA and Germany more difficult and temporarily led to stores being closed. According to information from Rhenish Post However, RH has been paying rent for the space on Sendlinger Strasse since taking over Abercrombie & Fitch.

The furnisher has rented around 3,000 square meters in the Hofstatt. His concept also includes a gastronomic offering. But it will mainly be about furniture for wealthy customers. A three-seater sofa with fabric cover costs around 10,000 euros at RH. And a simple pendant lamp costs a good 1000 euros.

The furniture store should be an asset to the city center. The industry is already represented on Sendlinger Straße with Kare, Casa 43 and others. And not far away, on Hackenstrasse, is one of Munich’s most traditional furniture stores: Radplayer.
