A new variant of the scam has been on record in Munich since Thursday: the criminals have tried so far, either as fake craftsmen or as false police officers to get into apartments and steal valuables, so they tried it now with a more than 80-year-old man in Berg am Laim by acting as a craftsman and police officers appeared.
First someone pretended to be a heating engineer who had to check the pipes; Then two men came along, who introduced themselves as police officers with alleged ID cards and said they were arresting the wrong tradesman. With all the fuss, one of the scammers managed to steal valuables and several hundred euros. By the time the senior found out and called the real police, the trio was already gone.
