Munich: Trams 16 and 17 interrupted until June due to construction work – the information – Munich

Due to construction work on the tracks at Romanplatz and Arnulfstrasse, the Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) has to interrupt tram lines 16 and 17 as well as the night tram N17 from Monday, February 19th, until probably mid-June.

Tram 16 will be replaced by buses between Stachus and Romanplatz, line 17 will be discontinued during construction work. Tram 12 runs in the Romanplatz – Amalienburgstraße section and will be extended accordingly. The night tram N17 only runs between Effnerplatz and Stachus. Replacement buses run to Amalienburgstrasse.

Car traffic will not be able to cross Romanplatz in the south during the construction period. Coming from Wotanstrasse, Romanplatz can be reached via a turnaround on Arnulfstrasse at the level of Nibelungenstrasse. If you want to go from Arnulfstrasse to Wotanstrasse, you can turn around at Romanplatz.

After 28 years of operation, Stadtwerke München (SWM) is replacing 2.4 kilometers of tracks on Arnulfstrasse between Nibelungenstrasse and Marsstrasse. In addition, nine switches, six crossings and new tracks will be installed at Romanplatz over a distance of around 220 meters for a track triangle with a connection to Wotanstrasse. This means that the trains can then travel on the new tram west tangent line towards Laimer train station. Information about operation and connection information is available online at mvg.de and in the MVGO app.
