Munich: Train drivers’ strike saves the life of a drunk at Hackerbrücke – Munich

Last week’s train drivers’ strike may have saved the life of a 41-year-old man from Munich on Saturday night. At around 2:30 a.m., a taxi driver informed the federal police that a man was on the mainline railway tracks near Hackerbrücke. The tracks were immediately closed, a patrol found the man at a switch and brought him to safety.

He was clearly drunk with more than two per mille, stated that he had previously been to a nearby discotheque and could not remember how he got on the track. Luckily for the man, no train was running at the time due to the train drivers’ strike and the switch was not activated – otherwise it could have seriously injured him.
