Munich: Thieves steal safe from Inselmühle beer garden – Munich

Brazen vault thieves haunted the “Inselmühle” beer garden in Munich’s Obermenzing district on Saturday night. After the deed, they pulled away with a handcart – in their luggage they had their loot, a safe with a content of around 20,000 euros.

Between 3 and 4 a.m., the two men broke into the pub in the beer garden, which, according to the police, was only secured with a padlock. A standing safe was stolen from the interior of the massive wooden building and transported away with a handcart located on site.

Investigators from Kriminalkommissariat 52 (phone 089/29100) probably know what the perpetrators looked like from recordings made by a surveillance camera. One was around 20 to 30 years old and has short hair; he was wearing a t-shirt and vest, and hand protection. His accomplice wore jeans and a hoodie, and he wore black shoes. The beer garden of the “Inselmühle” has 800 seats. It is located on the banks of the Würm.
