Munich: The Vivas association brings together parents whose children have died – Munich

How do you move on when your child dies? There is an association in Munich where those affected can share their experiences. About a pain that never goes away and the strength that community can give.

You don’t want to talk about it, you don’t even want to think about it, and you certainly don’t want to have to experience it firsthand: that your own child or other loved ones are dying. For Doreen Zimmermann, time stood still when she learned that her two daughters, aged nine and eleven, had died violently. She couldn’t understand it. She waded through a dull life in the fog, everything in slow motion, simply catapulted out of orbit. Today the 46-year-old is the managing director and “the soul” of an association that supports people on this difficult journey, encourages them to be active and lets them forget the suffering, at least for tiny moments, maybe anyway. “Vivas” is the Latin name of this club: May you live.
