Munich: The series camp festival shows 40 new series – tips – Munich

The Queen is dead, the Prime Minister is gone and England is not what it used to be. Fortunately, there are still television series in which leaders are allowed to rule for a little longer: In the new Sky series “This England”, for example, Kenneth Branagh plays the recently resigned Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Queen Elizabeth II is still in office there . The series is up-to-date anyway: it’s about what happened in the first few months of the corona wave in 2020, which hit Great Britain particularly hard when Johnson himself made ill and controversial decisions.

“This England” can be seen at the series camp festival in the cinemas of the University of Television and Film (HFF). After two pandemic editions, the festival will again take place as a purely face-to-face event: from Thursday, October 6th, almost 40 series will be performed over four days. Not in full, of course, that would overwhelm even the most die-hard binge watchers. However, the first episodes are shown in each case – and admission is free. However, the tickets should be reserved online.

Stars and doers have also announced themselves for some performances, for example on the opening night when the second season of the German Prime Video series “Die Discounter” (about the employees of a Hamburg supermarket) is on the schedule. “Souls” also comes from Germany, starring Brigitte Hobmeier and Julia Koschitz.

Mysterious transmigration of souls in serial form

The mysterious transmigration of souls series, in which a boy reminisces about a past life, has an excellent reputation. It was shown at a television festival in Cannes in the spring and won awards for best screenplay and best music. A public discussion with the series creators is also planned after the screening.

The second season of the hit US series “Euphoria” is eagerly awaited, again starring fan favorite Zendaya. Also the new Disney Plus series “The Old Man” with Jeff Bridges as a former CIA agent, the 1970s Hollywood series “The Offer” (about the creation of the Coppola classic “The Godfather”) or Lars von Trier’s creepy ones Hospital series sequel “The Kingdom Exodus” should be in great demand.

However, the festival also shows series that are not yet distributed in Germany, from countries such as Mexico, Israel or Slovenia. The German actress Emilia Schüle, for example, plays the title role in the French historical series “Marie Antoinette”, the Chilean star director Pablo Larrain staged the beauty queen show “Señorita 89”. “Colosseum” is also a documentary series on the history of the Roman Empire.

In addition, there are panels, prizes and audience discussions about serial superheroes or hip-hop culture. So there is a lot to discover, only the series camp event for trade visitors will not take place again until 2023.
