Even the prospect of the anniversary concert held last year by Pure had freed their singer Hartmut Engler from a writer’s block. The result can be heard on the new album “Personal”, on which Germany’s oldest school band also got reinforcements from New York. The resident vocal ensemble Naturally 7 supports a new version of Pur’s old hit “Funkel Perlenaugen” with his a cappella singing. In return, the Afro-Americans are now performing the opening act for the current Pur tour with vocal acrobatics, which, thanks to vocal imitations of the corresponding musical instruments, made them superfluous for a concert in the Olympic Hall.
With this, Pur have given their fans a special sound experience, which the band will now have to measure themselves against at the start of their tour in the Olympiahalle.
In fact, Pur also convinces with particularly beautiful vocal harmonies, which are now powerfully underpinned by conventional rock instruments such as keyboards, bass, guitar and drums. When Naturally 7 later returns to the stage to redesign their “sparkling pearl eyes” together with Pur, among other things, an already euphorically celebrated concert experiences an increase that even the expression “heavenly” seems too earthly to describe.
First, the singer Hartmut Engler is only framed by the voices of the New Yorkers. The other band members and their instruments then very cautiously dive into the newly created cosmos of sound. With that, the summit of the concert could have actually already been reached, from which one could now have descended contentedly. First of all, Pur still have enough hits in store, which they also know how to embellish on their own. And secondly, they enjoy such a great audience, which the band, as they never tire of emphasizing, had to miss long enough due to Corona. Pur has also prepared another surprise for this great audience: As on the new album, the soul singer Cassandra Steen complements the singing in the Olympiahalle as a fortune teller in “Is it my face”. Later there is an impressive finale with all the guest voices, before Pur says goodbye to their viewers all by themselves, so to speak Pur completely pure.
