Munich: The Olympic Tower signals solidarity with Israel – Munich

The television tower in Munich’s Olympic Park is one of the city’s symbols. When this 291 meter high, popular building is illuminated in the colors blue and white, it is meant as a symbol. The brightly lit tower should also be a widely visible sign of solidarity with Israel last Saturday on the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holocaust. The illumination was linked to the demand for the release of all remaining hostages who have been in the hands of Hamas since October 7th.

For the Munich economic advisor Clemens Baumgärtner, the Consul General of the State of Israel, Talya Lador-Fresher and Doron Hemon, Israeli economic attaché, this symbolism is an important concern: Jewish life in all its facets should become more visible. The colors blue and white refer to the national flag of Israel with its two broad stripes on a white background and the blue Star of David in the middle. It is reminiscent of the Jewish prayer shawl Tallit.
