The color was his home. For Günter Fruhtrunk it was not only a medium, but also the content of his art. And this is detached “from all literature and meaning,” as the important representative of concrete painting and long-time professor at the Munich Academy described it in 1963. “No associations with life experiences and moods” should arise, and no “I” should be “projected” into the images. What should prevail there instead was pure color. In order to direct, strengthen or tame their power, Fruhtrunk used a compass and ruler. And it is actually a blue and white striped pattern, designed by him in 1970 for the Aldi Nord plastic bag, which today is primarily associated with early drinks.
