Five months after the violent death of a 76-year-old in Munich’s Untermenzing district, the police apparently arrested a suspect. The first chief inspector Mathias Heidtmann, deputy head of the Munich homicide commissions, and chief public prosecutor Anne Leiding from the Munich I public prosecutor want to announce details at noon.
The 76-year-old Turkish-born Munich native was found murdered in his apartment on Francéstrasse on January 13. There were no signs of a break-in in the apartment, the apartment door had just been pulled shut. An acquaintance of the Turkish national had raised the alarm on the police emergency number 110. He hadn’t reached his friend in days and was worried. Later they bordered investigator put the probable day of the crime on January 9th.
The victim had previously worked as a craftsman on construction sites. The man, who lives alone on Francestrasse, was often out and about in his walker, including using public transport, a police spokesman said in January. After a serious operation in autumn 2021, he repeatedly received help from different people when he was doing his errands. Sometimes the purchases or the walker were brought into the apartment. He was last seen in public on January 7th.
