Munich: Structural engineers saw danger for tenants in the Gewofag house – Munich

For more than a year now, the city has been struggling with a ramshackle house on Gärtnerplatz. Now the report of a structural engineer is presented in front of the court, which shows the extent of the deterioration. Could all this have been known earlier? And how at risk were the tenants?

The actions of Gewofag in their ailing house on Buttermelcherstraße raise further questions. Although the municipal housing company has emphasized that there has never been a danger for the residents of the apartment building in the Gärtnerplatzviertel, the opinion of a structural engineer from November 2020 arouses doubts. “Overall, there is an assessment that there is currently an incalculable risk situation and therefore a danger to the life and health of the residents,” he wrote in summary. The Gewofag management only found out about this paper through the SZ. Nevertheless, the urban group maintains that sufficient emergency measures have been taken to rule out any risk to the residents.
