Munich: Street cleaning removes 47 tons of New Year’s waste – Munich

Rockets, firecrackers, bottles: the street cleaners removed 47 tons of New Year’s waste on New Year’s Eve. In the previous year it was only around 32 tons due to the Corona bans, the city said. Around the Friedensengel alone, three tons of waste accumulated. Street cleaning was ready there from 0.30 a.m., in the city center and in Schwabing the special operation ran from 4 a.m. to noon.

The horticulture department has to clean the parks partly by hand. According to the building department, there was a particularly large amount of rubbish on Olympiaberg, Neuhofener Berg in Sendling, Westpark, Ostpark, Riemer Park, Königsplatz, Theresienhöhe, Hirschgarten and Fröttmaninger Berg.
