Now it would have almost been so far: Munich would finally have had something like regular party operations again. An outdoor club on Maximiliansplatz. It should start on Friday, 300 people would then have been able to celebrate on the area. Dancing, laughing, getting to know people – everything that the boys in particular have been missing in the past few months would then have been possible again. Legally and within a framework that the conditions of the pandemic apparently allow even in Bavaria.
Now the weather has thwarted the organizers, a collective of several Munich club operators, and the partying. The start of the open-air club has to be postponed by a week. This means that August will also – at least officially – remain dance-free.
On the one hand, that is of course a shame, thinks Tom Hilner, who as the operator of the Pacha acts as a spokesman for the organizers. On the other hand, the later start gives him and his colleagues the opportunity to make the final final agreements with the district administration department (KVR). Because the approval for the outdoor club operation is not 100 percent dry, even if both sides emphasize that these are only details and one is very confident that all open points can be finally clarified.
The KVR does not provide information on what topics are involved. In the course of the planning, “details of the concept have been adapted and feedback from other municipal departments has been taken into account in order to meet all requirements”. However, nothing has changed in terms of the basic requirements, such as the number of visitors or the size of the site: around 300 people on 1,500 square meters.
The party guests must also be recovered, vaccinated and tested negative. This means: even those who can present a vaccination card or proof of recovery must also have a negative test result. How good that many clubs were converted into test centers during the pandemic – you can have yourself tested on site, for example in the Pacha, and thus minimize the risk of getting infected on the way to the event.
Despite the last votes, it is unlikely that the event could fall into the water not only because of the weather, but also because of the official requirements. “At the moment, it cannot be assumed that there will be any particular difficulties in connection with the planned event if the specifications are adhered to,” reports the KVR. And the club operators are also confident that their outdoor event can start on the first weekend in September.
It’s really about time: because who knows how long the weather will be like this in this strange summer that it even makes sense to plan outdoor events.
