What else can help against the impending climate catastrophe? In any case, they want to “act, not just talk.” Sports friends Stiller – and as quickly as possible: “The climate is changing, any hesitation will drive up the price of future action.” And so Munich’s most prominent rock band (“Applause, Applause”) comes into action. On the global climate strike day on Friday, September 15th, Peter Brugger, Rüde Linhof and Flo Weber will give a concert at the demonstration at Munich’s Siegestor at 12 p.m.
For the organizers of Fridays for Future, the celebrity support is very useful in order to mobilize even more supporters: “The sports fans are true legends! We are really happy to have their support and are sure that the atmosphere with them will be great .” In addition to the sports friends, Paula Carolina is also playing (“It’s moving in paradise”) and there’s also dancing at a “Rave Block”.
But the fun shouldn’t hide the bitterly serious concern: “Despite many climate promises, there is still a lack of effective measures and clear plans,” say the organizers, and Munich and Bavaria in particular are still lagging behind. “Reason enough to put pressure on politicians” – and in time before the state elections.
Sportfreunde Stiller’s current album “Just an X for everyone” fits the election cross. The trio, who have been playing together since 1997, once again shows their social commitment, for example in the song “Wächter”. In general, the band has always stood up for “The Good Side” at demos, in actions and in pieces: for refugees, for football fields and against Nazis.
“Society can be modernized according to the size of the task – it just needs to be finally addressed,” they say. “We sports fans are wholeheartedly and absolutely committed to the climate strike because we see ourselves on the side of all the realists and those responsible, not on the side of the (also political) dreamers and naive people who still think that it would be the best way forward “To carry on as before.”
