Munich: Speeder flees police checkpoint in rental car – three injured – Munich

A 37-year-old man caused a car accident while fleeing a traffic stop on the Mittlerer Ring. At the underpass to Lerchenauer Straße, the man rammed a Mini with his rented Audi A4 on Saturday evening around 11 p.m. Its occupants, three Munich residents aged 21, 23 and 24, suffered whiplash and shoulder bruises, but did not have to be taken to hospital.

The person who caused the accident continued his escape before later, after a few turning maneuvers, he got stuck on Schleißheimer Strasse, at the level of Gartenstrasse, while crossing tram tracks. He tried to escape on foot, but was arrested by police officers and offered massive resistance.

A police patrol had previously tried to subject the Audi to a general traffic check on the Georg-Brauchle-Ring. The driver accelerated and initially raced away in the direction of Petuelring. According to the police’s initial findings, the 37-year-old did not have the required driving license to drive the car. Corresponding criminal investigations were initiated against him.
