Like every year, the “West Section” is practicing, which is the police stations Laim, Neuhausen, Olympiapark, Moosach, Pasing, Planegg, Milbertshofen and Oberschleißheim. “Real situations” and “threat situations” will be rehearsed until Thursday.
To do this, the officers use the BMW Park parking lot, which was previously called Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle, every morning between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. The police wear helmets and protective vests and they also fire shots. The situations should be presented as realistically as possible – this has been important since the right-wing extremist attack at the Olympia shopping center in 2016. Passers-by don’t have to be bothered by the banging noises: the weapons are loaded with blank cartridges.
