Munich: Sound performance by the Sonic Art Collective at Schwere Reiter – Munich

People like to talk about new and interdisciplinary paths in music, but often it’s just old wine in new bottles. Really futuristic and unprecedented, on the other hand, is the “Son is rising” project Sonic Art Collective, which can now be seen for the first time in the Schwere Reiter. The names behind the collective already vouch for this: the bassist and singer Antonia Dering, who is known as the boss of SiEA knows; Guitarist and composer Leonhard Kuhn, otherwise the mastermind of jazz frenzy big band; and behind the scenes Carlotta Dering, who is responsible for the concept, costumes and stage, as well as the juggler Ariane Oechsner as dramaturge and choreographer.

Together they enter spherical worlds of sound on the fine line between man and machine. Because Dering performs here as the android “Superhuman Son” and is in the jointly developed “Sonic Suit”, a fashion tech costume equipped with sensors and microphones, with which she creates sounds through movements. Which, together with Kuhn’s technoid beats, results in exciting, surreal sound collages.

Sonic Art Collective, Thursday, Feb. 9, 8 p.m., Schwere Reiter, Dachauer Straße 114a, www.schwerereiter.de
