Munich: soul jazz singer Judith Hill in the Unterfahrt – Munich

Judith Hill probably had to become a musician – as the daughter of Japanese pianist Michiko and black R’n’B bassist Robert “Peewee” Hill. After studying composition and staying in France, she began her career in the USA as a songwriter and background singer for stars such as Anastacia, Robbie Williams and Elton John from 2002 onwards. She became a star herself when, originally chosen for Michael Jackson’s comeback tour, she sang “Heal The World” at his memorial service in 2009 in front of an audience of billions.

Even after Prince’s death, she performed at the tribute night, revealing that she was his last protégé and life partner. Prince’s funk pop resonates strongly in Hill’s music, into which she, as a singer, guitarist and keyboardist, also intersperses strong jazz, R’n’B and gospel elements. Also on her album “Baby, I’m Hollywood”, which she is now in the underpass introduces – in a quartet with her parents.
