Munich: Söder welcomes guests to the New Year’s reception – Munich

After a two-year Corona break, Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) once again welcomed representatives from all areas of social life to his traditional New Year’s reception. Around 1800 guests were expected at the reception in the Munich Residenz on Friday evening, including ministers and members of parliament, but also prominent representatives from culture, business, religion and sport.

At the parade, the guests were personally greeted by Söder and his wife Karin Baumüller-Söder. Because of the corona pandemic, the New Year’s reception, which is considered one of the highlights of the political and social year in Bavaria, had to be canceled two years in a row: Söder had to cancel the appointment in both 2021 and 2022. The reception had already failed in 2011 – at that time Söder’s predecessor Horst Seehofer (CSU) had canceled it for cost reasons.
