Munich: Single parents should have better chances when looking for a daycare place – Munich

It should be easier for single parents to get a daycare place in the future. This should apply to the coming kindergarten year with the help of a transitional solution. “This is very good news for many single parents who are particularly in need of a daycare place – and also of being able to plan in good time so that they can continue to pursue their job,” says Sebastian Weisenburger, leader of the Green Party in the city council.

A year later, the change should be stored in Kitafinder, the online portal for allocating childcare places; Single parents and their children will then have better opportunities. Then the disability of a child or the care of relatives is given greater consideration. The SPD and the Greens had already submitted a corresponding application two years ago.

However, these regulations only apply to the 460 municipal facilities and around 200 other daycare centers that allocate their childcare places according to the city’s guidelines. The other providers have set their own criteria for this.
