The Swiss singer Lucia Cadotsch has never allowed herself to be pinned down, neither when it comes to her singing style nor the direction of her projects. The open playing style of jazz is its basis, particularly enjoyed in the trio Speak Low, which literally reconstructed standards. From there she has moved in a variety of directions: from country music (ukulele and fiddle player Manon Kahle) to fusion (Snow white & rose red) and synth pop (Liun & The Science Fiction Band) – all decorated with the most important prizes from the Echo to the German Jazz Prize.
Now Cadotsch is introducing her new band in the underpass Aki with Felix Henkelhausen on bass, Josef Demoulin on piano and Jamie Peet on drums. Including the album of the same name, in which exciting female characters from Medusa to Rosa Luxemburg form the thematic link.
