One and a half years after the violent death of a family in Starnberg, the murder trial of two suspects began on Monday. According to the Munich II public prosecutor’s office, you are responsible for the death of your 21-year-old friend and his parents. The two defendants want to remain silent about the allegations, they announced at the start of the trial before the Munich II district court.
According to the indictment, the 21-year-old Maximilian B. from Olching is said to have shot his friend and his parents in their house in Starnberg in order to get at his friend’s illegal weapons. His 20-year-old alleged accomplice Samuel V is said to have driven Maximilian B. to the crime scene and picked him up again. He is charged as an accomplice.
The driver’s defense attacked the public prosecutor’s office in three opening statements. This follows “a simple logic” in their indictment, said lawyer Alexander Betz. “There are four people in a house, one comes out alive, and so the fourth is the murderer.” But this is only one of the many conceivable variants. There are “several hypotheses of what could have happened on the night of January 10th to 11th, 2021 that are just as plausible, if not more plausible”.
The defense even believes the version that the prosecution initially assumed is possible – namely that the son of the family first killed his parents and then himself. In any case, complicity on the part of her client cannot be proven.
The police first thought the victim was the perpetrator
The two defendants are said to have cleverly concealed the act – the investigators therefore initially held the son to be the perpetrator. A police patrol discovered the bodies of the 60-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband and son on January 12, 2020 in a single-family house in the north of Starnberg after the daughter was worried about her family. All three victims died from headshots.
Since the two defendants are still adolescents, the trial takes place in front of the 1st youth chamber. You have to answer for murder and two armed robberies on supermarkets in the Fürstenfeldbruck district.
The court has earmarked a total of 54 days for the proceedings. The judgment is due to be issued on January 11, 2022 – two years to the day after the alleged act.
