Munich: Senior woman uncovers fraud with counterfeit money – Munich

Due to the attention of a senior citizen, the police managed to seize a large amount of counterfeit money and arrest two people. The 83-year-old woman from Untermenzing had advertised a property for sale. A man then called and said he was interested in buying. He wanted to pay in cash, but the woman would have to change some of the banknotes first.

The woman found this strange and called the police. The handover of the money was agreed late in the afternoon of last Thursday and the seller and buyer wanted to meet at the property in question. When the alleged buyer, a 22-year-old, arrived there, she was arrested by the police. She was carrying a large number of 500 euro notes, all of which were counterfeit.

A 26-year-old man was circling the area in a car – as it turned out, the young woman’s accomplice. He first tried to escape in the car and finally on foot. However, he was unable to do this and was arrested along with his alleged accomplice. It is currently being determined whether he is also the caller or whether other people are involved. The man and woman are in custody.
