Munich: senior center in Hasenbergl opened – Munich

Finally is the word of the day. Finally the wait is over. Finally you are no longer limited to a pavilion. The long-awaited meeting place for seniors in Hasenbergl has finally arrived. Even in the mayor’s speech, the word is not neglected: “First and foremost I would like to say: we finally have an old people’s and service center here in Hasenbergl,” says Verena Dietl (SPD). After all, the district has so far been the only one without such an offer.

The opening ceremony takes place in the brand new premises of the ASZ Hasenbergl at Stanigplatz. Exuberant atmosphere, beaming faces throughout the room. The joy at the opening of this 33rd senior center in the city is clearly noticeable. The team started work back in the summer, and now there are appropriate celebrations to go with it.

After the mayor, Stefan Fröba, board member of the Diakonie Hasenbergl, also took the same line. He tells humorously about the long time it took for the center to emerge and comes to a forgiving conclusion: “It’s nice that I can still experience it here.” Both receive a pair of self-knitted socks as a thank you from the Diakonie, “For the inner warmth,” says Alexander Bohn, the head of the ASZ Hasenbergl.

The precursor project was the senior citizens’ pavilion

More than two decades ago, the people of Hasenbergl first expressed their wish for a retirement and service center in Hasenbergl. After all, on November 12, 2001, the senior citizens’ pavilion was inaugurated. A temporary solution, albeit in a central place. In any case, the volunteers made the best of it and supported the elderly in the neighborhood with lunch, memory training, preventive home visits and much more. Even in times of Corona, the team did not give up and organized bingo games via video conference, for example. “And now finally space,” says Stefan Fröba and visibly breathes a sigh of relief.

Now the offers can be expanded, because there is enough space available in the premises at Stanigplatz. And that space is put to good use. In addition to geriatric care and counseling services, there are many ways to get in touch with others. With the wide range of different courses, there is something for everyone: from cooking courses for men or cell phone and tablet consultation hours to Dance 50plus or self-defense training to language courses or bowling. The prices differ from course to course, but are usually less than ten euros. Day trips and individual events are also offered.

The ASZ Hasenbergl, Stanigplatz 8a, telephone 452 235 786, e-mail: [email protected] is open from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Telephone hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday and Thursday also from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
