Andreas Gassner’s words are of that ruthlessness that makes you shudder. “The prices for sausage will rise so exorbitantly, no one can imagine that,” says the master butcher. Luckily he signed a new electricity contract last year, which initially secured moderate prices for him. But when it came to gas, he slipped into the emergency supply of the Stadtwerke München (SWM): The monthly discount shot up from 2,000 to 10,000 euros. His energy consultant predicts that he will be paying 30,000 euros a month for electricity next year, three times more than today.
