Munich: Save the bee rescuers! – Munich

That’s annoying, actually outrageous: Two years ago we selflessly put in our stuff for these bums and all other insects with the signature of the referendum “Save the bees” – and how do the beasts thank us then? Actually not at all, on the contrary: Unregistered and of course without permission, they nestle in our kitchen and transform the organic waste bin into a biotope of unknown objects in flight. Allegedly they are fruit flies. At least that’s what an animal-loving friend claims, who would prefer to be a dragonfly herself.

Fruit flies, she says, are good-natured companions who help people use rotten fruit. “Just let them do it, they’ll go away on their own in winter.” Well, we are morally bound. Sign against the dying of insects and then kill some, that’s not possible. In addition, the fly swatter always leaves such ugly stains on the wall.

But these critters could be a little more grateful, after all, we are fighting at their side against the chemical clubs of agriculture. But sometimes you get the impression that they have no idea who deserves to be harassed by them and who doesn’t.

The wasps, for example: As soon as you sit in the beer garden, they are already there. Some gnaw at the spare ribs, others throw themselves into the Radlermaß. And they don’t even listen when we call out to them that we have signed the referendum and can therefore claim to be spared from them. Instead, they get their colleagues, who then get on with the fish on a stick. The enemy crouches at the next table. Five farmers who definitely spray insecticides on their fields. But they remain unmolested.

Our friend the dragonfly says we can be proud that the wasps have come to us. The clever animals sensed exactly who means well with them, and they then honor such people with their company. At that moment the thought flashes to the side of the bad guys, who seem to have an easier life. It is not that easy to be swarmed around by wasps, mosquitoes and infested with fruit flies all the time, just because you have signed a petition once.

And then the constant fear of swallowing a beetle while eating a plum dachis, which was the last of its kind. This can easily happen in Munich, because many endangered animal species flee to the cities because it is too dangerous in the countryside. The rare stem leaf cutter bee and the equally rare dune narrow bee have just been discovered here. They wouldn’t stand a chance out in the fields.

This also has its good sides: If you want to picnic without the company of clinging insects, you drive out to a rural area. Heavenly, this inanimate nature.
