Munich: Retirement home operator files for bankruptcy. – Munich

The St. Josefs Association from Haidhausen has filed for bankruptcy with the local court. The association, which runs a nursing home and child and youth welfare facilities, announced this itself. According to the board, the financial burden and loss of income resulting from the closure of the retirement home on Preysingstrasse would have led to the threat of insolvency. The child and youth welfare facilities should continue to operate “until further notice” and the care offering will remain unrestricted. The association runs, among other things, an integrative house for children, a special education children’s and youth home and a special education day care center.

In November, the St. Josef Association announced that it would close the nursing home in February after more than 90 years because it could no longer find enough staff and there was a high level of sickness among the current workforce. The club had already closed a section of the home in the spring and almost halved the number of places from around 100. In the end, operations were only maintained through the use of temporary workers.

The board emphasizes that it will support the approximately 50 residents of the nursing home in finding new care places. The home’s employees are also helped to find new jobs. Together with the provisional insolvency administrator Max Liebig, the board and management of the St. Josefs Association worked on long-term solutions for the facilities.
