Munich reading by Charlotte Gneuss – Munich

There was a lot of talk about this debut last year: Charlotte Gneuss’s novel “Gittersee” received the “aspekte” literary prize as well as the Jürgen Ponto Foundation literary prize, and it was also on the longlist for the German Book Prize.

However, the great success was accompanied by discussions, as a kind of “list of defects” with comments from fellow writer Ingo Schulze also became known. The core problem: Did the writer, who was born in Ludwigsburg in 1992 and whose parents grew up in the GDR, correctly portray the country that she only knows from stories in every respect? And does that matter? You can now find out more about this – and much else – in the Seidlvilla. As part of a reading by the Toucan Circle (instead of Sherko Fatah), Gneuss will take visitors back to 1976, to the Dresden suburb of Gittersee.
