Munich: Railway workers’ cooperative residential complex in danger – Munich

The leasehold contracts are expiring for a residential complex owned by the EBM railway workers’ cooperative in Neuhausen. The federal government will decide what happens next. Selling the properties at market prices would mean the end of cheap rents. Not just in this facility.

A white sign with a black border hangs across the entire width of an archway that leads from Schäringerplatz into the inner courtyard. It says in Fraktur script: “Eisenbahner-Baugenossenschaft München-Hauptbahnhof eG”. The year 1927 can be read elsewhere on the facade. This residential complex in Neuhausen, as is clear at first glance, has a long and venerable history.
