Munich Radio Orchestra and BR Choir perform two Rachmaninoff operas – Munich

We were invited to journeys into the depths, down into the chasms of human emotions, through the perils of monogamy all the way down to the inferno: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s operas “Aleko” and “Francesca da Rimini” can be experienced in the third “Sunday Concert” of the Munich Radio Orchestra . Ivan Repušić and his orchestra work here with a singer ensemble that sounds like an ideal cast and receives additional impulses from the usual outstanding Bavarian Radio Choir. The two one-act plays therefore have the best chance of being discovered as dramaturgically effective, concise character studies.
