On Wednesday, the Munich I Regional Court sentenced a man to four years in prison for sexually abusing a 13-year-old in exchange for payment and gifts. The chamber considered it proven that the 26-year-old abused the girl in 17 cases in December 2022 and January 2023. He also allegedly possessed child pornographic content. The judgment was based on an agreement between the parties; it is not yet legally binding.
The man had met the girl on Instagram and, as agreed, paid her for repeated sexual intercourse with cash or cigarettes, clothing and an expensive cell phone. In his oral reasons for the verdict, the presiding judge emphasized that the man had treated the child victim “as a pure sexual object and dehumanized her into a commodity.”
What spoke in his favor was that he apologized to his victim in a letter and promised compensation. In addition, the person who had not previously been convicted admitted the crimes as part of the agreement and thus spared the young person from having to testify in court.
“To the detriment of the defendant, the court took into account that the injured party suffered severe pain during the requested sexual practices,” said a court spokesman. Even after the verdict for, among other things, serious sexual abuse of children, continued pre-trial detention was ordered.
