Munich: Public Prosecutor’s Office has PKK member arrested – Munich

A suspected member of the Kurdish Workers’ Party PKK, which is classified as a terrorist organization, was arrested on Wednesday in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich. This was announced by the Munich Public Prosecutor’s Office. The 50-year-old accused was born in Turkey and came to Germany in 2022. He has enjoyed asylum status ever since.

According to the information, the man is said to be one of the leading PKK heads in the Munich area. Above all, he collected and managed donations for the underground organization. He also organized events and trips and carried out propaganda. He is now in custody.

Just in March, the Munich Higher Regional Court (OLG) sentenced a 59-year-old to two years and five months in prison for membership in a foreign terrorist organization. The court’s State Security Senate considered it proven that the defendant worked for the PKK. Turkey, the European Union and the USA, among others, classify the PKK as a terrorist organization. It is blamed for a whole series of explosives and other attacks, particularly on Turkish facilities and civilians, over the past four decades.
