While not quite as famous as his grandfather Sergei, Gabriel Prokofiev is also a composer. Now the artist has come to Munich from London to see the opera “War and Peace” – and to report on the life of his family of artists.
Gabriel Prokofiev is a composer just like his world-famous grandfather Sergei. But the grandson and DJ, born in London in 1975, has Sergei ( who died in 1953 on the same day as Stalinwe choose the English spelling of the name here) of course not known. Gabriel Prokofiev, who doesn’t speak a word of Russian, has familiarized himself with his grandfather’s work via scores, diaries and studies, and he allowed himself to be influenced by him compositionally. Now he has come to Munich to see the grandiose new production of Sergei’s “War and Peace” at the State Opera.
