Pro-Palestinian students briefly occupied a lecture hall at Ludwig Maximilian University on Wednesday. They belong to a group called the “Unicommittee for Palestine Munich,” which claims to be committed “to the liberation of Palestine.” The group does not aggressively address the fact that the current war, in which the students see a “genocide”, was triggered by the terrorist attack by Hamas.

In a leaflet, the group calls for a “deeper examination of the racist structures in international politics”, especially in Gaza. She criticizes the LMU management because, in her view, they are trying to “ignore” the situation of the people in the Gaza Strip. In times of the shift to the right, anti-Muslim racism and anti-Semitism, this is not only “irresponsible”, it promotes “anti-democratic tendencies”.
